Stepping On Program
Stepping On is a free program that helps older people reduce their risk of falls. You will learn simple ways to improve your balance and strength, stay active, and feel more confident in everyday life.
You can join if you:
- Are 65 years or older
- Are 45 years or older and identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Live independently in the community
- Can walk on your own, with or without a walking stick
- Have had a fall, or are worried about falling
- Feel unsteady when walking or standing
- Want to stay active and independent
You will learn:
- Exercises to improve balance and strength
- Ways to reduce your risk of falling
- Tips to help you stay independent
- Information from health professionals
- Simple changes that can make your home and community safer
How the program works:
- Weekly group sessions for 7 weeks
- One follow-up booster session
- No cost for eligible participants living in south west Sydney
How to join:
The Stepping On is a free program delivered by Activempowerment and Skilled Health. Both of these companies deliver Stepping On and you can choose whichever one is more convenient to you.
You can:
- Refer yourself, or
- Ask your GP or another health professional to refer you
